2021 IPPC-APPPC Regional Workshop and the provisional agenda and group photos on 6 Sept 2021

Short description
This is the second time this regional workshop will be held virtually. The previous one was held from 7-10 September 2020. The regional workshop will discuss three basic areas including nine of the draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) out for consultation, the regional action programme, and the updating of IPPC issues. In particular, there will be updates on governance and strategic issues which include Governance and Strategy by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) and CPM Bureau, Update from the Standards Committee (SC) and Update from the Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC).

18th APPPC Regional Workshop on Review od Draft ISPMs

Short description
The 18th APPPC Regional workshop on review of Draft International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures(ISPMs) will be held in Busan, Rep. of Korea from 4-8 September 2017. The workshop will be supported by the Department of Plant Quarantine, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA), Rep. of Korea. In this workshop, APPPC member countries will review and discuss 3 new draft ISPMs and 4 ISPMs for the second consultation. In addition, the workshop will also discuss on emerging pests issues in plant health, achievement of the implementation and capacity development committee, implementation progress of the pilot programme on surveillance, International Year of Plant Health and update on the administrative activities of RPPO and IPPC. Senior Plant Protection Officers are invited to attend the workshop. Participants of the workshop is required to collate and prepare draft country comments on the ISPMs and up-load to the IPPC on-line comment system (OCS) prior to the meeting for sharing with other participants durng the meeting.

Training workshop on the surveillance programme planning coordination and delivery

The second workshop on ‘Plant Health Surveillance Programme Planning, Coordination and Delivery Workshop’ will introduce participants to the fundamentals of surveillance Programme planning, coordination and delivery responsibilities of an NPPO. The workshop will also include training modules specific to the revised draft ISPM 6 (including updated surveillance protocols, general surveillance activities, minimum data requirements, specimen reference collection requirements, diagnostics and pest reporting. The training content will be useful for surveillance program managers and coordinators to provide guidance on the implementation and delivery of plant health surveillance systems.

The FAO pesticide registration toolkit is a web-base decision support system for pesticide registrar in countries with limited resources to expedite pesticide registration. The web-based toolkit support registrar to locate data requirements, evaluate technical aspect of the registration dossier, risk mitigation and link to other data based of other countries. The objective of the training workshop to familiarized participants with the structure and content of the toolkit, expose to different modules and conduct practical cases studies. Four participants from selected APPPC countries will be invited to attend the workshop in Beijing China from 29 may - 3 June 2017.,
