<p>This workshop aims to provide an opportunity to exchange experience and to discuss about sustainable management of fruit flies and reduce potential risk of chemical pesticides. It will explore scope for closer collaboration among countries regarding management of fruit flies in particular as well as other plant pests in general. This workshop will aim to strengthen regional surveillance systems and management capabilities, supporting the implementation of international and regional surveillance standards (ISPM 4, ISPM 6, ISPM 26 and RSPM No.3) through the provision of technical training, reference manuals, online learning resources and surveillance tools. This will strengthen the management of regional plant pest risks, support member’s plant pest status, enhance pest risk analysis and facilitate information sharing among the APPPC member countries. <p>The 28^th Session of APPPC included a workshop on system approach into the work programme.</p><p>The APPPC Workshop on System Approach is now scheduled for 30 November- 4 December 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.</p><p>This workshop will build on the first system approach workshop held in Thailand in November 2013. It will draw principles of ISPM 14 to examine in detail the practical design and implementation of the integrated measures for system approaches to pest management.</p><p>The workshop will provide opportunities for attendees, through group exercise, to build a model system and develop a deeper understanding of the key integrated measures of a system approach.</p><p>The workshop will utilize a number of experts in pest risk assessment and management, who will facilitate the group exercise and discussions on the use of system approaches in developing integrated pest management strategies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The FAO Pesticide Registration Toolkit is a decision support system for pesticide registrars in developing countries. It was created to assist registrars in the evaluation and authorization of pesticides. The toolkit will give guidance on which evaluations need to be done, how they can be done in the most straightforward way and still produce meaningful results, and where relevant information can be found that can be used to carry out the evaluation. The tools that can help regulators to do their work more effectively. In order to test and collect feedback on improvement, a pilot workshop on the pesticide toolkit will beorganized &nbsp;from 1-5 June, 2015 in Hanoi, Vietnam with support from AGP pesticide team in collaboration with Vietnam Plant Protection Department.&nbsp;</p>
