Establishment of APPPC ePhyto Working Group

<p><strong><em><strong>During the APPPC Workshop on Building Understanding and Preparedness for Electronic Phytosanitary Certification it was agreed to establish the APPPC ePhyto Working Group. </strong></em></strong></p><p><strong><em>Purpose of the working group</em></strong></p><p><em>The aim of the APPPC ePhyto Working Group is to ensure the development and implementation of ePhyto solutions throughout the Asia/Pacific region that are consistent with the IPPC.</em></p><p><strong><em>Membership</em></strong></p><p><em>Membership will consist of representatives from countries within the APPPC regions who have or are developing ePhyto solutions. Participating countries will nominate a principle ePhyto contact who will be the Working Group member. A secondary ePhyto contact may be nominated to provide support to the principle Working Group member.</em></p><p><em>Participating countries at present are: Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Rep of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.&nbsp; Australia has accepted the initial chair position with Korea offering vice-chair support.</em></p><p><em>It is open to other countries to participate in the working group.</em></p><p><em><strong>Several Recommendations on an action plan from the APPPC workshop on ePhyto were developed.
