Report of the APPPC Pest Incursion and Eradication Workshop

<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: small;">The APPPC workshop on pest incursion and eradication was held from 30 August to 3 September 2010 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Delegates including those from non-member countries attended the workshop, which was co-funded by the Republic of Korea and APPPC. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: small;">In line with the work plan of APPPC s 26th Session, this meeting was developed to study pest incursion control and the use of eradication programme. The purpose of the workshop was to develop a base contingency plan to SALB which could be used by rubber producting countries of the APPPC. The workshop programme was developed by Australian experts with collaboration with the Republic of Korea, Japan and New Zealand. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: small;">The principles of ISPM No. 9 as well as incursion and eradication with examples were introduced. The meeting also looked at case studies on Plum pox virus, citrus canker and pine wilt disease. As well, the participants conducted exercises on South American leaf blight of rubber and Plum pox virus. These studies involved developing contingency plans for these pests.</span></p>
