Plant protection: Action plan on plant protection activities in Nepal

Executive summary

Plant protection activities in Nepal are mainly dealt by Plant Protection Directorate (PPD), which also coordinates National Plant Quarantine Program through its different checkposts and sub-checkposts. It conducts IPM program to the national level and also operates Pesticide Management and Registration Section by which haphazard use of chemical pesticides has to be minimised. In the later period, the role of National Plant Quarantine Program has been increasing day by day. Similarly, exchange of information on plant protection activities has to be exchanged among the member countries of the APPPC and beyond. Therefore, some action plan with regard to plant protection with especial focus of phytosanitary issues and capacity building has been putforward as Action Plan of the country in the Capacity building in use of the International Phytosanitary Portal (IPP) and APPPC Website for information exchang, held on 4-9 July 2011 at Sangri- LA Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
